This course presents a series of decorative techniques which
use only natural materials, in the context of a wholesome
house.
- study of the various materials and analysis of the house in
this overall structure.
- history of techniques using the earth (clay and straw mortar,
rammed earth, adobe, cob)
- new decorative alternatives and the realisation of coatings
using combinations of earth, plaster and earth, and earth and
lime.
- use of coatings with straw and hemp |

In addition, this course
presents all of the techniques of painting and patinas which
correspond to this theme.
- comparisons of ancient techniques (“qâdad” from
Yemen, “tadelakt with earth” from Burkina Faso)
and of the mineral materials which are used.
- measures and selection of materials and study of surface
- use of natural mineral pigments
- realisations of patinas using egg, casein and glue-based paints
- realisation of mineral paintings (lime, potassium silicate)
