| The word « patina » refers
to the different painting, coating, and material-based decorative
techniques used to create decorative effects. Patinas, which
were originally an artificial ageing process, have been improved
through the centuries. Originally used on raw materials (like
wood, wrought iron …) and then on furniture, patinas
can be used nowadays on every kind of framework and mural surface.
Patinas bring a different style which is immediately recognizable
according to their epochs and their geographical origins (Gustavian,
Venetian, oriental patinas…). |

| The work of colour is sometimes
very complicated. A multitude of products are used to create
these decorative effects. Very “modern” products
are used but also some very old ones. There are unlimited possibilities
and often, the difficulty consists of keeping in one’s
mind the reproducibility which is essential to a decorative
effect (unless to prepare an artistic exhibition!).
When the chemical alchemy of all the products is completely
understood, the stucator can easily respond to every demand
of their clientele. |
