Decorative
earths by Philippe Chastel, ed. Dessain & Tolra, will
be published in 2007.
It is a book of mixing; a mix of tradition and modernity, a mix
of materials and colours, a mix of style and origin. It is a
travel book into the past and the future, a book of exchange
of know-how and culture. It is a book where the realisations
are simple and exchange themselves; for example, we will use
a table like a piece of wall, tile for a lamp, a wall like a
painting… |

| The matter is simple but
sometimes, sensitive. You have to be attentive to it. The matters
are natural. Man needs them and have to respect them. Some
of them are slow during the preparation and the use, like lime
or earth, so you can’t use them without thinking. Others
of them are a little raw. We have to know how to use them with
the various mixtures. |
